Rules

THE TOURNAMENT

The tournament will be played over 36 holes:

  • 18 holes at La Quinta Golf & Country Club, adjacent to The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort (A & C course) on Monday November 2nd.
  • 18 holes at Finca Cortesín Golf Club, Casares on Tuesday November 3rd.

There will be a full practice round at La Quinta Golf & Country Club on Saturday October 31st.

 

FORMAT

The event is an individual Stableford competition.

 

HANDICAP

Full handicap allowance
Maximum handicaps are 24 for men and 28 for ladies.
The tournament committee reserves the right to ask players to provide a detailed history of their playing record.

  • Handicap Certificates from a recognised golf club must be provided by fax or e-mail to the Volvo Event Management office, prior to the event.

  • Players must be minimum 18 years old to participate in the World Final.

RULES OF GOLF

The event will be played under the rules laid down by The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. Additional local rules will be posted on the notice board.

 

TEE TIMES

LA QUINTA

Please arrive at your tee-off position and check in with the starter at least 10 minutes prior to your tee-time. You are liable to be disqualified if you are late.

FINCA CORTESÍN

Play will be a shotgun start from various holes. Please check the notice board for start positions.

 

SLOW PLAY

In the interest of all competitors, please play without delay. (Rules of Golf 6-7)

 

MOBILE TELEPHONES

Mobile telephones are not permitted on the course under any circumstances.

 

TIES

In the event of a tie for leading places, final positions will be decided by the following:

  • The highest Stableford score on the back 9, and if still a tie,
  • The highest Stableford score on the last 6 holes, and if still a tie,
  • The highest Stableford score on the last 3 holes, and if still a tie,
  • The highest Stableford score on the last hole, and if still a tie,
  • Sudden death starting from hole 1

The back 9 as described above relates to holes 10 -18, irrelevant of the starting hole.

Volvo Masters Amateur World Final Champion
Volvo Masters Amateur World Final Runner-up
Volvo Masters Amateur World Final Third Place

TEAM PRIZES:

Team Winners
Team Runner-Up
(Teams of two will be randomly drawn.)

 

REFEREE’S DECISION

The decision of the tournament staff and ultimately the tournament director is final.

Volvo Event Management reserves the right to modify these conditions in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.
